5 Years & Fiscal Year End

It has been 5 YEARS since we took the plunge into the call God had before us, going on staff full time in Lorain County, Ohio. He has grown and changed me and Megan so much through the past 5 years and our family! We packed up our cars and our brand new puppy, Kota, and drove out to Cleveland unsure of what the Lord really had in store for us. From the time we got hired to our first 3 months, we went from 3 staff in the area to just me. I was hired to be in the area under an Area Director and upon arriving that role was vacant. God stretched us and graciously led us to step into that role as we learned on the run. We have faced a lot of turns like that in our time here but God has been faithful to provide a way. Our family has also radically changed. We are now blessed to have our two boys! Aiden is 3 years old and Fin is 7 months old. God has done a lot of new things in our lives, things we have desperately had to rely on Him for help with. We have had opportunities for other jobs/careers in the face of being on reduced pay on and off but they never felt like a real option. We are assured in our call to this place in Lorain County. This is our home and we aren’t planning to leave unless the Lord takes us from here.

To those of you who have faithfully prayed for us, who have given financially to us, you have no idea and there are no words to express our deep gratitude. There are so many things we are thankful for about Lorain County. We have seen the Lord build a community of leaders around us who we truly love and who truly love kids in our county. When we started in this area we went to our first All-Cleveland leadership meeting. One volunteer leader showed up. Megan and I were caught off guard, coming from an area where around 30 volunteer leaders were steadily in attendance. It’s not that there was only one volunteer leader, there was a very different culture and with that, very different priorities. The majority of our Volunteer Leaders are full-time workers who have families of their own or are planning and trying to start families of their own and the amount of time that they give to loving on kids in this area is astounding and nothing but a result of leaning in harder to the Lord themselves. Things look different and we are on the cusp of some very exciting things!

We have a Committee of adults who are incredibly passionate about Lorain County about High School and Middle School kids who fight for our family so hard. They pray for us, they pray for our area, they strategize with us, they give their time and their money, and we have never felt more supported and cheered for than this past year. Again, a direct result of the Lord‘s faithfulness and a direct result of those committee members leaning in hard and growing.

We had a ministry in two schools, Brookside an Avon Lake HS. At that time God led us to start Avon WyldLife and soon after Avon HS. We have established a student organization at Lorain County Community College. We, unfortunately, had to close our ministry at Brookside HS as a result of some hardship. We are currently gathering a prayer committee together and have an all-star veteran leader who feels called to go help restart Brookside HS. Pray God would bring another leader to rise to the call to go with our veteran leader to re-establish Brookside. We are steps away from Young Life finally having a presence in Lorain, both with a ministry team doing Young Life in Lorain and YoungLives in Lorain.

We hope hundreds even thousands of more students in Lorain County would be loved, cared for, listened to, and given life to the full that comes with Jesus. We need your help to continue to see this happen. Our budget is raised purely through donors and a few local churches. We would love to invite you to be a part of our team and help the work happening here with a donation. Please join us in praying that the Lord would be leading the way in these adventures and this work and consider if you could join our donor team as either a one-time or monthly giver for Lorain County Young Life.

We are also approaching our Fiscal Year-End at the end of this month and still need help. For any financial gifts to count towards THIS Fiscal Year - they must be received in Prescott, AZ by Sept. 30 when our Fiscal Year ends. Would you consider giving a gift to help the work in Lorain County not only to continue but grow?
