Young Life Lorain County Continues it's Mission

The Mission Continues

In the midst of the Coronavirus Pandemic so many things about everyday life have changed and Young Life has not been immune to the hurdles the outbreak has created. While we have made adjustments for the safety and well-being of students and leaders in complying with the state and federal standards, we have not stopped in the intentional pursuit of our mission to "introduce adolescents to Jesus and help them grow in their faith."

One of our first Zoom Clubs

Pressing On

Here are some of the things we are doing to press on and make the most of what God is doing:

  • Weekly Leadership meeting. A time to pour into and check on our leaders as well as creatively collaborate on some of the best ways to reach and care for kids.
  • Weekly Campaigner Bible studies on Zoom. Kids still have a place to come dig deeper into the Word and ask questions.
  • Bi-Weekly Club meetings on Zoom. We make a space to have fun, break down walls, and proclaim the Gospel to students who have not heard it before or are not in a relationship with Jesus.
  • Weekly Committee prayer meetings on Zoom. Every Thursday our committee gets together on Zoom and prays through Psalm 91 in solidarity with the worldwide mission of Young Life. We pray for our leaders' prayer requests, each other, and for students.
  • Discipleship with students. We use a variety of tools. One, in particular, is the Bible App from You Version. Students are doing joint study plans in Scripture and discussing with their leaders.

Prayer Is the Work

Schools are important to us, not only for what they are, but also for who they represent - kids. Recently our region took the opportunity to drive through the many communities in our areas and pray for just under 300 schools/areas. Some of the schools that we visited have established Young Life ministry and others with no Young Life presence at all. I prayed at 10 different locations on that day for students, administration, safety, and that the students and community would experience life to the full and hope in knowing Jesus.

PRAY FOR SCHOOLS

Your Support Is Crucial

We know that many have been financially impacted during this time and are sensitive to that. We are praying for provision for people in this time of turmoil. Young Life Lorain County is in need of your support. In response to the safety measures in place, a planned fundraiser has been canceled. We are planning to do a virtual version of this fundraiser. While we are uncertain about the funds that will be raised, we are trusting God will provide for the financial needs of this ministry. Please consider a special gift at this time to support Young Life Lorain County. Thank you for your consideration!
